What is the magic number? When will I get to the magic number? Is there even a magic number? What am I talking about?
The amount of money you will need in order to retire comfortably. The truth is, I don’t think there is one. I don’t think there ever was one, despite the fact that many people thought there was.
Why can there never be one? Well, we are not fortune tellers. In order to have the magic number, we would need to know what will happen in the future. That is the only sure-fire we will have the magic number. We can plan and we can try to get the magic number, but the fact of the matter is, sometimes, it will never be enough.
What used to be a good plan before, doesn’t quite hold true anymore, especially if you didn’t plan for the unexpected. It seems like an oxymoron, I know. How do you plan for the unknown? Well, you factor it into any plan you are thinking of having or have.If this sounds like too much of hassle, it’s time to consider other options besides saving 10% of your paycheck.
It can go a long way, but have you been saving enough to make a difference during retirement? What about your lifestyle? Are you willing to make any substantial changes in hopes that your retirement is everything you expected? It’s difficult to consider but these are the questions you need to be asking yourself because there is “no magic number.” At least not one that fits every situation and retirement. It’s not possible because there are too many factors to consider.
In reality, you should plan for the unexpected, but how often is what you save up enough? If it isn’t, or you don’t think it will be, it’s time to consider a reverse mortgage.
Specifically, the line of credit option. And more importantly, there has never been a better time for the reverse mortgage. Changes are coming to the program, which will affect the amount of money you can potentially receive.
Retirement. For some it has become a scary word because it’s not a sure thing anymore. Even if it is, how will you be able to spend it? Hopefully how you planned but most of the time, probably not. It’s crucial to take the drive into comfortable retirement because, once the reverse mortgage program (as we know it) is gone…it’s not coming back. A new, hybrid program will take its place but will it be the same? I don’t know, only the future will tell.
