Bill Nelson, the chairman of the Special Committee on Aging, stated in an article published by Reverse Mortgage Daily:
“This new hotline will give seniors a resource to turn to for assistance if they think they’ve ever been victimized or have questions about fraudulent activities.”
It will be an extra resource seniors will have on hand whenever they need to reach out for others and ask for help. This hotline will, hopefully, become a beacon of hope for seniors who may have fallen victim to fraudulent activities. In addition, the committee has launched a newer, senior-friendly website with large print and a simpler layout in an effort to seniors’ experience much more fruitful if the need should ever arise. While there is a lot of information online for seniors to find, they need to feel comfortable surfing the Internet and looking for said information. This website is definitely a step in the right direction. The Committee’s anti-fraud hotline will be staffed weekdays from 9am to 5pm Eastern Standard Time. If you or a loved one has been the victim of fraudulent activity, or suspect you have, it’s time to call toll-free at 1 (855) 303- 9470 or contact the Aging Committee through their website at http://www.aging.senate.gov/fraud-hotline.Interested in a reverse mortgage or simply have more questions?
