So the United States government has been making the reverse mortgage harder to get, stricter for people who are 62 and over to be able to qualify. This is something that they could use to help themselves through retirement, by having less expenses. People over 62 also paid a lot of taxes for the most part throughout their entire lives. People who are younger, who have just finished college, and have student loans have paid less taxes, yet the government is subsidizing trillions of dollars to pay off student loans of people who have not been taxpayers for very long, and they have their entire work lives ahead of them. Why not subsidize for those people who are 62 and over who have paid taxes and that need it and help the reverse mortgage be a better program for these people? Mortgage Nerd out.
